Villa Bordoni in Chianti Joins JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) May 17, 2006

Villa Bordoni, a new elegant Tuscan countryside hotel, is the latest member to join JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts. Located five minutes from the center of Greve in Chianti, in the heart of the prestigious Florentine Chianti Classico region, this historical estate dates back the 1400s and was entirely renovated in 2005. The hotel has 10 accommodations, all of which are en-suite, and were created by Riccardo Barthel, a renowned Florentine interior designer. Additional amenities include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool with terrace, outdoor state-of-the-art gym, wine cellar, lounge and library. The grounds consist of olive groves and vineyards and both wine and olive oil are produced on the estate.

Owned by David and Catherine Gardner, a Scottish couple who have lived in Italy over the past 11 years, Villa Bordoni has been positioned as a luxurious but unpretentious country house that specializes in Tuscan gastronomy. The Gardners’, who are property developers and restaurateurs, own two well-known restaurants in Florence’s historic center, Baldovino and Beccofino. Although the hotel is small, the Garndners’ spared no expense in establishing an exceptional kitchen, “we specialize in cooking lessons…our open kitchen incorporates the Villa’s original wood burning oven that was custom built in enameled cast-iron by the famous workshops of Molteni of France”, explains David Gardner, “our chef and cooking instructor, Francesco Fineo, has worked at Beccofino in Florence and La Certosa di Maggiano, a Relais & Chateaux property in Siena”. The hotel’s bar adjoins the restaurant and is overseen by sommelier Massimo Casagrande who gives tours of the underground wine cellar and hosts wine tastings.

Developed exclusively for JDB, Live Like a Tuscan is a unique four-night Independent Excursion that allows guests to experience the best of Tuscan country living. This package includes four nights in a Superior Double room, three dinners at the hotel with beverages, one lunch with beverages, two cooking lessons, a guided tour and wine tasting at two local wineries, a full day tour through of the picturesque villages of Chianti Classico as well as the medieval walled towns of Siena and San Gimignano, transportation for the tours, and one tasting of local products. Guests traveling during November and December can escape the high season crowds and take part in the age old olive harvest and pressing tradition. A great example of the uniqueness of this package is the four-course winemaker’s dinner that allows participants to savor each dish that is made specifically to enhance the qualities of select local wines. The price of the package starts at €895 per person, based on double occupancy. A complete package detail to include a day-by-day breakdown of activities is available on JDB’s website.

The ending to “The Count Of Tuscany”. To me it’s one of the most beautiful parts i have ever heard, I hope people share this opinion with me. Lyrics: {Petrucci} Could this be the end? Is this the way i die? Sitting here alone No one by my side I don’t understand I don’t feel that i deserve this What did I do wrong? I just don’t understand Give me one more chance Let me please explain It’s all been circumstance I’ll tell you once again You took me for a ride Promising a vast adventure Next thing that i know I’m frightened for my life. {The Count} Now wait a minute man That’s not how it is You must be confused! That isn’t who I am. Please don’t be afraid I would never try to hurt you This is how we live Strange although it seems Please try to forgive The chapel and the saint The soldiers and the wine The fables and the tales All handed down through time Of course you’re free go Go and tell the world my story Tell about my brother Tell them about me The Count Of Tuscany (whoa) With special thanks to Dream Theater® The pictures are from a dutch art designer (“stevetheater”) who has good contacts with DT and RR, he created them himself excluding the band fotos and the Wither pic. If you want them pm me your e-mail and a polite message :) @@@@@@@@@@@ Props to stevetheater! Check his account btw, some nice vids…

Villa Rental Tuscany: Grandiosity Versus Affordability

Villa rental in Tuscany may pose as a bit of a dilemma to the first time traveler to the region. First of all there are many vacation villas to choose from in Tuscany alone (and yes, all of the villas in the region come with their own swimming pools.) Choosing a place to visit would be your first priority, for Tuscany is indeed sprawling with historical sites and unique natural places. You cannot hope to cover all of Tuscany’s historical places or more interesting sites in one day’s journey.

On the other hand, if you are simply seeking for a plush home to simply sit back and relax, knowing which part of Italy you want to visit may help you find a quiet location that is both affordable, but still fits into your relaxation and recreational needs.

If you are seeking some R&R near the water, you may want to avail the services of a villa rental in Tuscany that is near the sea, and those that can offer you different water sports amenities like scuba diving and jet skiing. If you are more into wine and wine tasting, there are villa rental in Tuscany that are near vineyards, and caters to wine tasting group tours. If you are more into nature trekking, there are villa rental in Tuscany that are near the mountains and hills-a perfect paradise getaway that remains unspoiled even to this day.

Undoubtedly, the prices of villa rental in Tuscany are affected by which region you choose to stay in; the more popular destination places charges higher. You can choose from the different areas like: Arezzo-Cortona, Chianti, Florence, Florentine Hills, Lucca, Maremma, Montecatini, San Gimignano and Siena. Peak tourist seasons like Christmas and summer holidays also dictates the prices of villa rental in Tuscany.

The size and special packages included with each vacation offer also affects the price of any rental villa. Some people opt for the complete opulent package, from the horse-drawn carriages to the vast parklands, to the multi-staffed halls that are on your beck and call 24 hours a day for all the days you are staying there. Others prefer the villas that can house more than 50 people at any given time; and this is perfect for those holding their weddings or business congress in Tuscany.

If you are on a more limited budget, however, there are other alternatives to the really grandiose villas in the region. There are smaller villas just on outside the outskirts of town that have the same ambience as the large 20-acre villas. These smaller villas are more personalized and are often owned and staffed by the original families who have lived there since time immemorial.

If you want to save a lot of money but still want to enjoy all that Tuscany has to offer, make sure that you book your reservations months early. Also, if you have a favorite villa rental in Tuscany, you may want to patronize this place repeatedly and gain discounts for subsequent use as a frequent visitor.
