Vacation in Italy – Private Holiday Homes versus Hotels

Vacationing in Italy is a dream come true for so many Americans. Those who have Italian heritage often wish to see where their families originated. Those who have no Italian lineage still look upon Italy as one of the foundations of Western civilization. Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, Umbria, Chianti, San Gimignano, Siena, Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Spleto and Montepulciano are all legendary to those of us raised in the “new world” and for many are simply places we’ve read about in our school books, or seen on television or in the movies. Many Americans, sadly, know little of the geography of Italy, but do appreciate the food. After all, pizza and spaghetti are considered as American to us as apple pie and hot dogs. But only on a trip to Italy can a person really appreciate this magnificent country, home to Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Christopher Columbus.

When you are ready for that once in a lifetime experience of an Italian vacation, consider a private home rental for your source of lodging. Hotels can be nice, but staying in a private home rented for the occasion can give you a chance to see the real Italy. Explore the countryside, walk into the village and visit with the residents, and see what it feels like to actually go home, to a cabin or villa at the end of the day, living as the Italians do. Or, try a beach house if that suits you or an apartment if you prefer a more urban setting. Getting to know the local people by living among them for an extended stay of a few weeks will give you a chance to learn some of the language, or if you already speak Italian to brush up on your skills. It will also give you a chance to learn local history in a very unique way, from the people themselves. You will appreciate all of the similarities of Italian culture with your own, and learn to appreciate the differences as well. The Italians are a wonderful, friendly people with a rich culture and history. Taking the time to live among them, getting to know them as friends and neighbors, is truly an experience you will always remember.

Private homes for rent to vacationers in Italy can be found in various price ranges. If you are looking for luxury, there are villas available. If something more rustic suits your taste and budget, then smaller homes and even old farmhouses are available to appeal to all tastes. Just as an example, one property includes two bedrooms, queen size beds, kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, central eat and the satellite television, telephone and VCR that most Americans are used to having. Imagine though the coziness and comfort of coming back to the house after a day of sight seeing to sit by the fire place, drinking a glass of a local wine, having a light dinner of pasta, and enjoying the peace and quiet of your surroundings. Staying in a hotel in a major city will certainly show you the tourist hot spots, but staying in a private home will show you the real Italy.

Rent holiday home or vacation rental in Italy and enjoy your stay!

Villa Bordoni in Chianti Joins JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) May 17, 2006

Villa Bordoni, a new elegant Tuscan countryside hotel, is the latest member to join JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts. Located five minutes from the center of Greve in Chianti, in the heart of the prestigious Florentine Chianti Classico region, this historical estate dates back the 1400s and was entirely renovated in 2005. The hotel has 10 accommodations, all of which are en-suite, and were created by Riccardo Barthel, a renowned Florentine interior designer. Additional amenities include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool with terrace, outdoor state-of-the-art gym, wine cellar, lounge and library. The grounds consist of olive groves and vineyards and both wine and olive oil are produced on the estate.

Owned by David and Catherine Gardner, a Scottish couple who have lived in Italy over the past 11 years, Villa Bordoni has been positioned as a luxurious but unpretentious country house that specializes in Tuscan gastronomy. The Gardners’, who are property developers and restaurateurs, own two well-known restaurants in Florence’s historic center, Baldovino and Beccofino. Although the hotel is small, the Garndners’ spared no expense in establishing an exceptional kitchen, “we specialize in cooking lessons…our open kitchen incorporates the Villa’s original wood burning oven that was custom built in enameled cast-iron by the famous workshops of Molteni of France”, explains David Gardner, “our chef and cooking instructor, Francesco Fineo, has worked at Beccofino in Florence and La Certosa di Maggiano, a Relais & Chateaux property in Siena”. The hotel’s bar adjoins the restaurant and is overseen by sommelier Massimo Casagrande who gives tours of the underground wine cellar and hosts wine tastings.

Developed exclusively for JDB, Live Like a Tuscan is a unique four-night Independent Excursion that allows guests to experience the best of Tuscan country living. This package includes four nights in a Superior Double room, three dinners at the hotel with beverages, one lunch with beverages, two cooking lessons, a guided tour and wine tasting at two local wineries, a full day tour through of the picturesque villages of Chianti Classico as well as the medieval walled towns of Siena and San Gimignano, transportation for the tours, and one tasting of local products. Guests traveling during November and December can escape the high season crowds and take part in the age old olive harvest and pressing tradition. A great example of the uniqueness of this package is the four-course winemaker’s dinner that allows participants to savor each dish that is made specifically to enhance the qualities of select local wines. The price of the package starts at €895 per person, based on double occupancy. A complete package detail to include a day-by-day breakdown of activities is available on JDB’s website.

Ross Hotels, a new hotel company for Chianti and Tuscany

With the opportunity of the forthcoming opening of Palazzo San Lorenzo, a new, magnificent four-star hotel converted from an old palace in the historical center of Colle Val d’Elsa, the family Rossinelli decided to capitalize on its decade of experience in the field of hospitality by creating a new brand, the Ross Hotels Group.

The Adventure of the family Rossinelli in the hotel began in 1996 with the opening of the “Ultimo Mulino”, a charming hotel in Gaiole in Chianti and continues in 2001 and 2005 with the openings of Palazzo Leopoldo and Palazzo San Niccolò, two structures of considerable charm, produced in buildings of great historical value in the heart of Radda in Chianti. The idea that push the family Rossinelli was to enter in the hospitality business with Chianti Hotels, offering suitable accommodations, respecting and reflecting the natural elegance of the territory and right to receive different types of tourists interested in visiting these areas.
The love of the family for the hospitality led in the short time the three structures to reach a wide reputation internationally, especially for the quality of hospitality and services, also testified by the consistently achieved top positions in web-sites become absolute reference points for travelers, as Tripadvisor.

Ross Hotels Group was established with the dual intention of becoming a reference point for people who look for relax, comfort and functionality in a Hotel Tuscany, and a guarantee of quality for all travelers who wish to live the Chianti in its highest intensity. The company does not offer a hospitality with generic standards of service, but the group exists thanks to the territory and the love for it, letting the guests know and live it every moment of his stay with extremely personalized services and treatments for each guest in order to offer to everyone the highest quality of hospitality.

The structure of Colle val d’Elsa fits perfectly in this project, with the careful renovation of a building of historical value in the heart of the fortified city and services designed for every need, including a spa of 420 sqm, with a location central to all the major points of attraction of Tuscany, including San Gimignano, Siena and Florence.
