Villa Bordoni in Chianti Joins JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) May 17, 2006

Villa Bordoni, a new elegant Tuscan countryside hotel, is the latest member to join JDB Fine Hotels & Resorts. Located five minutes from the center of Greve in Chianti, in the heart of the prestigious Florentine Chianti Classico region, this historical estate dates back the 1400s and was entirely renovated in 2005. The hotel has 10 accommodations, all of which are en-suite, and were created by Riccardo Barthel, a renowned Florentine interior designer. Additional amenities include a restaurant, bar, outdoor pool with terrace, outdoor state-of-the-art gym, wine cellar, lounge and library. The grounds consist of olive groves and vineyards and both wine and olive oil are produced on the estate.

Owned by David and Catherine Gardner, a Scottish couple who have lived in Italy over the past 11 years, Villa Bordoni has been positioned as a luxurious but unpretentious country house that specializes in Tuscan gastronomy. The Gardners’, who are property developers and restaurateurs, own two well-known restaurants in Florence’s historic center, Baldovino and Beccofino. Although the hotel is small, the Garndners’ spared no expense in establishing an exceptional kitchen, “we specialize in cooking lessons…our open kitchen incorporates the Villa’s original wood burning oven that was custom built in enameled cast-iron by the famous workshops of Molteni of France”, explains David Gardner, “our chef and cooking instructor, Francesco Fineo, has worked at Beccofino in Florence and La Certosa di Maggiano, a Relais & Chateaux property in Siena”. The hotel’s bar adjoins the restaurant and is overseen by sommelier Massimo Casagrande who gives tours of the underground wine cellar and hosts wine tastings.

Developed exclusively for JDB, Live Like a Tuscan is a unique four-night Independent Excursion that allows guests to experience the best of Tuscan country living. This package includes four nights in a Superior Double room, three dinners at the hotel with beverages, one lunch with beverages, two cooking lessons, a guided tour and wine tasting at two local wineries, a full day tour through of the picturesque villages of Chianti Classico as well as the medieval walled towns of Siena and San Gimignano, transportation for the tours, and one tasting of local products. Guests traveling during November and December can escape the high season crowds and take part in the age old olive harvest and pressing tradition. A great example of the uniqueness of this package is the four-course winemaker’s dinner that allows participants to savor each dish that is made specifically to enhance the qualities of select local wines. The price of the package starts at €895 per person, based on double occupancy. A complete package detail to include a day-by-day breakdown of activities is available on JDB’s website.
